When Good Roommates Go Creepy

Sunday: I got annoyed and made her bed and folded her clothes and cleaned up her desk. They had been laying on her desk for 2 months now. I couldn't handle it anymore. Afterwards I called and left what I thought was an angry message on her cell, demanding that she call me back. When I repeated it to the BF he didn't think it was that angry, but I think it got the point across.

Today: I went and bought some hair dye, got back from CVS and started looking for an old towel in my closet. I moved my bridesmaid shirt to the side because it was hanging in front of my closet. Wait a sec. Last night I hung it on the front of her closet, ya know since no one is using it. Suspicious, I open her closet. Nothing! All her clothes are gone, and even the giant dirty clothes basket that had been filled for the last two months was gone! I checked the dresser, same thing. Weird. Mostly creepy though. It feels like a stranger was creeping around my room...

Congratulations Are in Order

Hermione and I participated in a "Newlyweds" style friend competition last night. East holds one every year and last year we lost...

This year we studied. We held a hard core friendship boot camp.
Favorite food?
Pizza!
Favorite color?
Pink!
If you could be reincarnated into any animal what would it be?
Cow?
We may have cheated slightly, well I don't consider it cheating, but the BF told me he was pretty sure it was. We just made our answers easier to remember. Sure we both like pizza. Maybe it's not my favorite food. But it's easier to remember if we both say it's our favorite. Same thing goes for favorite store, favorite basketball and baseball teams, tv show, and pop...
Anyway we won. We always knew we were the best, not we have a prize to prove it! And if it makes you feel better, we would have easily won even without aligning some of our answers. We are just that good.

The Case of the Missing Roommate...

-Sightings:
Last seen? Monday, March 2, 2009.
March 6 R's purse was seen on her bed, gone two hours later.
March 9 remote found on R's bed and TV turned to Spongebob.
-Info from RA's? Nada, either their moral standing is annoyingly high or they don't have any information to offer. Most likely the later.
-Number of inquiries as to her location to date? 3 RAs and 1 Hall Director.
-Calls placed to R since 03-02-09? 6 at minimum
1 Answer (03-10-09) and conversation, all others unanswered
-Voice mails? 3
-Calls returned? 0
-Days since last seen? 13
Case status? Unsolved and very intriguing.

And I'm Back!

Normal optimistic Char is back with vengeance today! (that's kind of an oxymoron I do think...) This video did it for me. If you don't do anything else all day watch this video. It will be so worth it.

Ok first, it's in Chicago. Put anything in Chicago and I will fall in love with it. That's all it takes. I'm super easy. Second, anytime I can recognize things I'm a goner. "That's the bean! That's Millennium Park! Wrigley! I've been there! The Art Institute! OMG!" All-it-takes. Third, can I just tell you for a minute how much of a sucker I am for love stories? Hermione and I are notorious for asking how couples met, fell in love, got engaged, got married. First date stories are the best! It's pretty much my favorite thing to do and I always always want to ask people but I do realize that that is not always appropriate so I don't... However I have to say, not one person has looked at Hermione and I reproachfully when we ask, on the contrary, each person's eye (be they man, woman, or professor) has lit up in an excited yet embarrassed way and fully expelled every little detail much to our insane enjoyment.
Life is good my friends. Life is good.

Every Time a New Song Plays I'm Starting a New Topic

"Can't That Away From Me"
I cannot concentrate on my work. It's physically impossible. The problem is I would much rather sit here listening to Ella and Louis than write a paper on the importance of viewing the French Holy Childhood Association without the frameworks of Christian missions, imperialism, and communism.
"Anything Goes"
Hermione and I went shopping in the Fort today and she learned one more reason why I am utterly frustrating to most of the people in my life. We got lost, a lot, and I was cool with it. I kept saying things like, "Well yeah we got lost but we aren't anymore, that's a good thing! We could still be lost, this is way better." or "Yeah but think of all the things we learned today! Now we know how to get form one mall to the other and we found another Favoli's." The BF has experienced this before. The fact of the matter is, as long as I'm not late for something, I don't mind being lost and am thoroughly confused by other people's complete aversion to it.
"They All Laughed"
The roomie's feet stink. Really badly. Before it was ok because the stench was only here when she was here because when she left she took her shoes with her and she's almost never in the room. Now her socks smell though. So even when she leaves her dirty socks stay here. However I will gladly take this smell over the stinkiness of my old roommate... Plus, generally a little febreeze can fix this problem...
"Dream a Little Dream of Me"
Speaking of the roomie. Christmas is coming and I'm not sure I was to celebrate with her. I am a Christmas freak, I want twinkle lights and bulbs e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e, however, they have to be my twinkle lights and bulbs. If that girl tries to put colored lights or red and green ornaments on my perfect brown and turquoise decorated tree laden with 2 strands of perfect clear lights I will f-l-i-p and I really feel like she's a crayola red and green kinda girl.
"Dancing Cheek to Cheek"
Last night Bingo and Digger called me : ) I've missed my Y girls sooo much and I was sooo happy to hear from them! However I was slightly embarrassed to tell them that while they were out partying I was sitting in my room reading about Nixon and the demonstrations outside the democratic debate in Chicago 1968.
"Every Time We Say Good Bye"
I really want it to snow. Sooooooo much. Please snow. Please. Please. Weather.com said that it was going to snow today and now they've changed it to Monday. That was cruel. Something that important should have 100% odds of happening before they post it, that stuff is important.

Wait, Who Won?

The roomie and I were flipping through the channels today when we saw pretty pageant dresses, so of course we stopped to discuss. We soon realized that whatever pageant this was it had something to do with Venezuela and so we couldn't understand anything anyone was saying. And this probably isn't funny in translation but it was hilarious at the time. We had no idea what was going on, we could tell they were crowning the winner but all the girls cried and they all got crowns so we couldn't figure out who won. We finally narrowed it down to two girls and then we decided it was definitely the girl in the aqua dress. But no, it ended up being the girl with the bun. But why did they all get huge crowns?? It's not like that in the good ol' US of A, oh no, you know who the winner is here...

The East Diaries

My freshman and sophomore year (and every year preceding) my dorm was all female. It's the closest thing to a sorority on campus. Everyone knows everyone, and even if you don't know each other you always have something to talk about, whether it's falling ceiling tiles or mice. This year, my junior year, MC decided to let the males in. We had a surge in admissions and Lord knows a private university does not say no to some extra tuition money. This led to a housing crunch and my dorm was the sacrificial lamb. Now one wing of 3rd floor contains boys. Freshman boys. As I live well away from the drama on 2nd floor opposite wing I decided that I could cohabit peacefully with the little buggers as long as they stayed on their floor on their side. Well no such luck. I'm at the end of my rope and about this close to rattling off an email to our hall director and now I will share some examples, and I think that you will understand and commiserate with me by the end. Example A. I think it was Wednesday of last week. The roomie and I were chatting in our room with the door open when three boys stopped and came in to talk. "Hey are you the sprinkler girl?!" They asked me. "What is a sprinkler girl?" "Some chick ran through the sprinklers during orientation." "Obviously I am not the sprinkler girl" "You look just like her." "Yeah I'm still not her." Then they asked my roomie if she was a soccer player and where she was from. When she told them one of the boys responded, "Oh I went to school there for awhile, I also got put in jail there, we have things in common, we'll talk." After that they left. Example B. Friday night, a bit past midnight, myself and two of my girlfriends (we all live on the same floor) were returning from our night out. As we turned onto our wing we spotted a shirtless freshman boy on the opposite wing hanging half in a door. He spotted us and made a bee line in our direction so we quickly turned onto our wing and made for our rooms. Well my door came first so he skipped me and followed my friends. But they ignored him so he turned around and came back my way. As I was fumbling to get my key in the door he caught up with me, leaned his shoulder against my door frame in what I can only assume was supposed to be a seductive manner and asked me what I was doing tonight. Well as fury overtook my reactions I clumsily yet crankily spat out "Yeah, I'm waiting for my boyfriend to get here, so no thank you." and shut the door in his face rather hard. Then I stood there listening to him writing on my dry erase board. He was very articulate in his wording, I am sure he poured over his immense vocabulary searching for the words to convey his anger before finally settling on the always classy "fuck you". Now since this is a dry erase board, I really didn't care what he wrote, what did make me mad however is that he stole my marker. Example C. The very next night possibly the same guy walked past Hermione's door, noticed it was cracked open a few inches and so of course he decided to open it. He walked right in while she was getting ready to go out, he talked for about 30 seconds, felt her loft to see if it was sturdy, took a kleenex, and left. Example D. My roomie leaves to go take a shower. The BF and were watching the VMAs when she walked back in and hastily said "they're coming in" closely followed by two guys. She said it in a very weird way and I didn't understand. They talked to her for a moment or two and she mostly ignored them before they left and she shut the door behind them proclaiming that she didn't even know them, they had been outside the bathroom door and followed her to our room. Thank goodness she changed in the shower and wasn't half naked!

Now I cannot believe that we are the only girls that are being annoyed like this. There is no way that that whole floor chose 3 girls to bother. And just for the record, I have spent my fair share of time in every dorm, all of them containing boys, and never have I ever been followed down the hallway by some little good for nothing freshman that wanted a to get a piece. Maybe if one of these incidents happened or if they all happened over the space of a year, or even a month, it might be different. But they all happened within FOUR DAYS. It just makes me want to scream a little bit.

Lint

Girls, empty your lint traps. You are adults, you are not children, I promise the lint will not bite you, it is not dirty, it's just fibers that separate from your clothing during the drying process- totally safe. Thank you.

About Me

My photo
I love pretty pictures and fashion, decorating and paper. I use Harry Potter pseudonyms for all of my friends because as of now they are skeptical of the blogging world. I expect when we grow and up and move away and have babies we will all have blogs because that seems to be the thing to do. And when that day comes I will laugh and gleefully answer all their questions about blogger, thankful that they can finally share in the obsession with me! And secretly, I will be very proud that my archives stretch back much farther then theirs. Pennies From Heaven is where I write everything. I put my favorite photographs there, my favorite fashions, thoughts, stories, and humorous conversations between Hermione and I.
