Almost Grad

Raise your hand if you're a super senior! (My hand is fully in the air right now) I am officially a super senior. I got to watch the BF, Hermione, Ron, Luna, and many more walk down that aisle in their gold and black and receive those ever elusive (for me) degrees. And it actually wasn't awful. In fact it's working out quite well, Lord knows if I'd had graduated I'd have no idea what to do next. I really did enjoy student teaching these last few months, but I feel  like if I got a job teaching I'd get comfortable and that'd be it forever. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, a number of very lovely teachers read this blog,  both of my parents are teachers, each grandparent worked at a school at one point, clearly I am a fan of teachers. But there are a few other things I'd like to try first. Plus I can't overcome this hope to live in the city for a few year and I can't help but think that inner-city troubled teens would eat Miss G alive.

My extra semester at MC is helpful for other reasons too. This gives the BF  a chance to get settled. If, at the end of that lonely semester we are still together (fingers crossed) it'd be far easier for me to have an idea of where to look for jobs or continue my education. He's been split between two schools, IIT in Chicago  and Ball State. Now of course I've been secretly rooting for IIT (I guess not so secretly now). I love me some Chicago. And then I could live at home and save some money for a bit while still being able to have pretty easy access to him. IIT is a private school across the street from Centennial Field (it's one MAJOR flaw) in the neighborhood of Bronzeville. It's in this amazing historic part of Chicago and it's one of the big up and coming neighborhoods, which means it's still pretty cheap but prices are likely to sky rocket in the next decade. However, its masters program in Landscape Architecture is just a baby. While the school as a whole is incredibly well respected and has many famous architects affiliated with it, the program is very young (under 5 years) and somewhat unknown.

Ball State is in the bustling metropolis of Muncie. Oh yeah, corn fields. However, at just about an hour from Indianapolis, it still affords me the option of living in the city. The thing about Ball State is that over 100 students apply to get into this program and they accept less than 20. The BF is one of those 20. Not only that, but Design Intelligence (2009) lists BSU as number 5 in the country for masters programs in Landscape Architecture rolling in right after Harvard and beating out Cornell and Berkeley. Am I bragging? Yes, thank you for noticing. Basically the BF has pretty bright prospects either way in one of the few careers that has been growing over the last few years.

On a different note, I hope to get my back in my blogging routine this summer. Fingers crossed that this is the first of many summer 2010 blogs!

About Me

My photo
I love pretty pictures and fashion, decorating and paper. I use Harry Potter pseudonyms for all of my friends because as of now they are skeptical of the blogging world. I expect when we grow and up and move away and have babies we will all have blogs because that seems to be the thing to do. And when that day comes I will laugh and gleefully answer all their questions about blogger, thankful that they can finally share in the obsession with me! And secretly, I will be very proud that my archives stretch back much farther then theirs. Pennies From Heaven is where I write everything. I put my favorite photographs there, my favorite fashions, thoughts, stories, and humorous conversations between Hermione and I.
